I Was Just Thinking...........

Here are the pictures of that rare and illusive black squirrel everyone was hoping I’d post again! We call him “Mel".

This little squirrel has a condition known as melanism. Being the great wildlife biologist that I am, I contacted the Missouri Department of Conservation to tell them of my find. They said a melanistic squirrel is rarer to find than an albino! They only get two to three reports a year.

So there you have it folks! A melanistic squirrel!

…….and I discovered it……just two blocks from my home!

We’ve been on vacation, thus the lack of new blog posts. We drove 2,500 miles in eight days. That’s a lot of car time. Our first destination was near Minot, North Dakota, where we had a great visit with Chris’s Dad, his stepmom and her kids and grandkids! Then we packed the ole van back up and headed to Rapid City, S.D. to see Mount Rushmore and surrounding attractions for a couple of days.

Needless to say, I’m a bit tired, but we had a wonderful time! There will be more posts about the trip, and pictures too!

………now I have lots of laundry and house cleaning to do!

Kaitlyn’s art class was studying a little photography this past month, so they took a field trip to a botanical garden to take some pictures. I think she did a really nice job! She may just have a natural talent.

Tristan’s class went to School Day at the “K” (Royal’s Stadium) last week. The local Fox news affiliate puts on a weather/science lesson in the morning, and then the kids stay to watch the Royal’s play in the afternoon.

I’ve been to this event a couple of times, so this year Chris accompanied Tristan. Guinness Book of World Records was also there that day. Two world records were made that morning; one was for holding the largest weather lesson with an attendance of 16,110, and the other was for the highest pancake flip which was over 24 feet in the air!
